Find Your Level: Which Plan is Right for You?

Targeting CLB 9+ for PR?

If your current level is CLB 5-6, we recommend the 3-Month Balanced Plan. It provides enough time to master the Canadian contexts and vocabulary needed for a "Golden Target" score.

Starting from Basics (CLB 3-4)?

Directly jumping to mock tests won't help. Use the 6-Month Plan to build a solid language foundation before focusing on CELPIP exam techniques.

CELPIP Study Plan FAQ

Common questions about CELPIP study plans and preparation timelines

Which CELPIP study plan should I choose?
Choose your CELPIP study plan based on two factors: how much time you have before your test date, and your current English level. If you have 4 weeks and are already at CLB 5–6, use the 1-Month Intensive Plan. If you have 3 months and are at CLB 5, use the 3-Month Balanced Plan. For CLB 4, use the 6-Month Plan. If you are starting from CLB 3 or targeting CLB 9–12 with limited daily time, the 1-Year Mastery Plan is ideal. Always take a diagnostic CELPIP practice test first to confirm your starting level.
How many hours per day should I study for CELPIP?
For the 1-Month Plan: 90–120 minutes per day. For the 3-Month Plan: 60–90 minutes. For the 6-Month and 1-Year Plans: 45–60 minutes per day. Quality of practice with AI feedback produces faster score gains than passive study.
What should I study in the first week of CELPIP preparation?
Week 1 of any CELPIP study plan should cover: (1) Taking a full diagnostic CELPIP practice test to establish your starting CLB level, (2) Reviewing your test results to identify weaknesses by skill, (3) Studying the exact format, task types, and time limits for all 4 CELPIP sections, (4) Understanding CELPIP's scoring criteria (Content, Vocabulary, Organisation, Coherence for Writing; Vocabulary, Listenability, Task Fulfilment for Speaking), and (5) Setting up your daily study schedule.
Can I use IELTS materials to prepare for CELPIP?
Partially. General English skills (reading comprehension, writing structure, listening comprehension) transfer across tests. However, CELPIP-specific preparation is essential because: the Writing tasks (email + survey response) are different from IELTS General letter + essay, the Speaking task types and timing are completely different from IELTS face-to-face speaking, and CELPIP uses Canadian English scenarios not found in IELTS materials. Use CELPIP-specific practice tests from Paragon and Langogh for at least 50% of your preparation time.
Is the 3-month CELPIP study plan enough to reach CLB 9?
It depends on your starting level. If you are currently at CLB 6–7, a focused 3-month plan can realistically get you to CLB 8–9. If you are at CLB 4–5, 3 months is not likely enough. The fastest path to CLB 9 is: completing a diagnostic test (Week 1), doing intensive focus on your 2 weakest skills (Months 1–2), completing weekly full mock tests with AI feedback (Month 3). Consistent 90-minute daily practice is more important than the plan length.
